It’s a frequent question, one that came up especially on my recent trip to the US also. It’s an easy answer as it turns out: the food. Not that India has bad food. It has great food. The only problem is that all of the good food is Indian. If you want good food in any other cuisine you’re SOL. Italian, Chinese, Thai, Mediterranean, all teh suck. Not strictly true, there are some good authentic Chinese joints but very few and those are only ok. Apparently it takes real immigrants to create really good food.
On the other hand, there are a hundred different varieties of Indian food that you can sample, all of it terrific. So you’ve got that going. Which is nice.
